I know I’m one of the lucky ones. Lucky to have not only a pension, but a pension that has allowed me to retire one year earlier than my mandatory 60 years of age. Because just like every other GenX-er on the planet, I have saved ZERO dollars for retirement. I’ve been fighting the wildfire of credit card debt for 40 years. And recessions. And stock market collapses. And all of the other exhausting events of the past four decades.
But thankfully my employer did the saving, so I have a monthly check to live on. And maybe I won’t have to get another job to supplement it. So here we are. A first year GenX-er (birth year 1965) trying to do the thing.
I sure could use a nap.
